In our sad column #PalestineNews, the editorial staff of the blog Swordless Jihād dedicates this post to all the Lebanese brothers and sisters, to all the friends of the Land of Cedars, regardless of their religion and political orientation.
Indeed, we are crossed by a great pain and we feel a great sense of closeness to them, due to the massive humanitarian catastrophe they are being inflicted upon: over 700 dead and more than 1,800 injured in 96 hours, with children making up 96 percent of the patients taken to hospital. These figures speak for themselves, but in addition 600 thousand displaced had to flee their shelter and found refuge in the capital Beirut or in the northernmost regions, although there is no longer a safe corner under Lebanon’s sky. And we should consider also the bombings and destruction that have been ongoing across the south for almost a year now, under Israhell’s attacks, and the total death toll then rises to 1,540 victims at least.
On top of that, the winds of war blowing from Satanyahu’s nostrils say that it is not over here, as the land invasion is being prepared under the helpless eyes of the Arab countries, the West, and the entire “international community”. Allāh al-Musta’ān.
October 7 is approaching, but there will be other chances to draw the conclusions of a year of madness, because that is what it is. A madness that has led the Gaza Strip to total annihilation, and the West Bank to a further tightening of repression against the Palestinians. While Lebanon – against the will of the vast majority of the population, already exhausted and bleeding after multiple calamities – finds itself today completely engulfed in a spiral of brutal violence that is fatally threatening its very existence and, thus far, has in no way served the “Palestinian cause”. Isn’t that true?
However, as already said, we will postpone the “showdown” with those who have to be held accountable for this immense tragedy to a later article, now is just the time to pray. So, may the Almighty open a new path to peace and freedom for both the Palestinians and Lebanese. May His hand descend to protect the persecuted and silence weapons. Bi’ithnillāh. Long live Lebanon and long live Palestine.
