In the name of Allāh, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
Praise be to Allāh, and praise and blessings be upon the Messenger of Allāh, his family, his Companions, and all those who follow him.
Sheikh of al-Dawla al-Islāmiyya
Abū Hafs al-Hāshimī al-Qurashī
By the grace of Allāh Tā’alā, we Muslims have been made all brothers in the Ummah. The Almighty united our hearts, calling us to hold fast, all together, by His rope and “not to be divided” (Sūrat āl-‘Imrān, 3:103). So, let us stay true to His Word and talk to each other.
In view of your designation, we would like to share some reflections with you, in a spirit of humility and hoping to provide a small contribution to furthering our shared Islamic cause.
Akhy,
As a self-proclaimed ʾAmīr al-Muʾminīn, you shall be well guided to perform the most sacred duty to our community, which is to unite rather than divide us.
To be clear, Ahl as-Sunnah wa’l Jama’ah is our ‘Aqīdah. As Muslims, despite our imperfections and weaknesses, we also strive in our lives to be worthy of the Holy Qurʾān and of the Sunnah of our beloved Prophet Muḥammad ﷺ by following the Manaj of his Ṣaḥāba (ra), since the methodology of the as-Salaf as-Ṣāliḥ is the most righteous and consistent with the Dīn.
We do share with you the motives of the Jihād fī Sabīlillāh you are fighting for. We do share the same contempt for all the Tagawhit regimes led by alleged Muslim rulers and sheikhs, who have submitted to the Zio-Crusader-Chinese kuffar just for the sake of their worldly power and wealth, betraying Islām and the Ummah. We also do share your utmost concern about the fact that such rulers and sheikhs have opened the gate of the Religion to shirk and moral corruption, abandoning the Tawḥīd and violating Sharīʿah. And we do hold in high regard your strength, resoluteness, and resilience in battle, which all originate from your steadfast and immovable faith in the Almighty.
However, Akhy, there is something that we urge you to reconsider in the approach and course of action of al-Dawla al-Islāmiyya.
Today, our sword is the Akhlāq that Islām has brought into the world, and the inherent good of our Islamic principles and values. Today, our sword is the strength of our Da’wa, views, and ideas, not of our weapons.
Therefore, no more suicide bombers, Akhy. No more mass massacres, please. Here, the Holy Qurʾān and the prophetic method do not leave room for doubts. First, “do not kill yourselves” (Sūrat An-Nisā’, 4:29). To die as martyrs on the way to Allāh Tā’alā excludes the option of committing suicide. According to Sharīʿah, suicide bombers are illegal, and the dead and the wounded caused by the suicide bombings are not legitimate targets. Why? Because the people that usually gets killed, maimed, or harmed, are not enemies of Islām, whether they are Muslims or not.
“Permission [to fight] is granted to those who are attacked” (Sūrah al-Hajj, 22:39); “Fight for the cause of Allāh against those who fight you, but do not start hostilities, because Allāh certainly does not love aggressors” (Sūrah al-Baqara”, 2:190).
Astaġfirullāh, how many people walking in the street, buying food at the market, or gathered in a square or in any other place, even mosques, have died so far? What wrong had they done? They were not attacking Muslims, and they were not aggressors. They were just human beings – like all of us, non-Muslims included – who had nothing to do with the misbehavior of their rulers and sheikhs, as well as presidents and prime ministers. The famous āyāt says to “kill polytheists wherever you find them”, unless they “repent” and embrace Islām (Sūrah At-Tawba, 9:5). And the next one: “If anyone of the polytheists seek asylum with you, grant him asylum so that he can hear the Word of Allāh; then take him to a place of safety. This is because they are people who have no knowledge” (Sūrah At-Tawba, 9:6).
You see, Akhy? Those who do not know about the Almighty should be given the opportunity to leave the condition of Jāhiliyya they are into, and this can be done only through the work of Daʿwa, which is an effort along the Ṣirāṭ al-Mustaqīm of the Jihād fī Sabīlillāh that does not require the sword. The same concept applies to ordinary Muslims, but many of them have not been granted such a chance. Too many, Akhy, really too many.
And what was the gain for our cause? Explain to us, as we have been seeing so far only more Islamophobia and persecutions. Why continue to give the enemies of Islām the excuses they are looking for to oppress Muslims and stop the spread of the Religion?
As the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ taught us: “Do not act brutally. Do not exceed the proper bounds. Do not mutilate. Do not kill children and hermits” (Ibn Kathir, 190). By doing the opposite, that community truly capable to “call others to goodness, encourage what is good, and forbid what is bad”, will never arise and prosper (Sūrah āl-‘Imrān, 3:104) with the blessing of Allāh Tā’alā.
The Lord is with us and over us, may He forgive and correct our mistakes.
As-Salāmu ʿAlaykum wa-Raḥmatullah wa-Barakātuh.
السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته
Swordless Jihād
