SELF-AWARENESS OF WHO WE REALLY ARE AND WHAT WE ARE DOING HERE

Reading time: 2m45s

Here is a new piece of knowledge from the Ummah shared with our blog by brother Muhammad AbuʿAbd al-Rahmān. May Allāh subhānahu wa taʿālā continue to inspire his Daʿwa efforts for the benefit of Muslims and of those who may soon become Muslims In shā’ Allāh. Enjoy the reading! ☝️

We must be aware that eternity, in this low world, does not exist.

We are a collection of days, hours, and minutes, mostly accumulated and spent in activities of no benefit. And I am speaking first of all about myself and then about what I see around me and in the midst of this society.

God says in His Noble Book: “I swear by time. Indeed, the human being is in loss…” (Sūrat al-‘Asr, 103:1-2).

We have an identity.

Before being Muhammad, or Fātimah, a student or a worker… WE MUST BE AWARE THAT WE ARE SERVANTS OF GOD, AND WE MUST SERVE HIM IN WHAT IS REALLY BENEFICIAL TO US.

As stated above, eternity in this low world does not exist… Here, in this low world, those who want to rest will never rest in the Hereafter. HEAVEN is achieved through toil and perseverance in good.

The real reason for our existence in this low life is to work to build our Hereafter.

To worship God as He has commanded us…

God the Most High says in His Noble Book: “And I have not created the Jinn and the ʾIns [human beings] except to worship Me” (Surat ad-Dhāriyāt, 51:56). This worship implies His recognition as the only God, along with absolute submission and obedience to Him.

God has not left us lost, He created us and gives us necessities, but at the same time He has given us a guide and sent it to all mankind: Prophet Muhammad, may God praise him and protect him from all evil.

Shaykh Muhammad ibn ʿAbd al-Wahhāb, may God have mercy on him, says: “God created us, He provided us [with what we need] and He did not leave us adrift [without guidance]. He sent us a Messenger [from Him]. Whoever obeys him enters Paradise, and whoever disobeys him enters the Fire” (The Three Principles, p. 2, question 1).

God the Most High says: “Does man think that he has been left without a purpose [or guidance]?” (Surat al-Qiyāmah, 75:36)

There is no one who guides the hearts of people except God. Our responsibility is to learn, passing on knowledge first to Muslims who commit serious errors, then to others. Rectification must be done first to ourselves and then to the rest.

Islām is submission to one’s God, obeying Him and dedicating our sincere worship to Him completely, distancing ourselves from polytheism, heresies and their people. Mā shāʾ Allāh.
