Our beloved Prophet, may Allāh bless and preserve him from all evil, told us: “… Tūba to the strangers”. Now, many translate this statement as “glad tidings to the strangers” because of what they experience… But if we delve deeper into the meaning of the term “Tūba”, the people of knowledge and our beloved Pious Predecessors told us that the “glad tidings” is a tree in Paradise, or even Paradise itself. So, who are these “strangers”? They are those who followed the teachings of the Book of Allāh and the Sunnah of the Prophet, may Allāh bless and preserve him from all evil, and they rectified their steps towards their Rabb in the very same moment that people became corrupt. In saying so, we are not generalizing about people, but only about one category, namely the one of Muslims, who have become corrupt by moving away from the Islamic precepts with which Muhammad was sent, may God praise him and preserve him from all evil. So, good news to the “strangers”. And may God include us among them, and fill us with good and wisdom.
